Qualifying, Heat 1, Heat 2

Pre-Final, Final, 5 podium places

In this final round of the year, Melvin Moh took pole from Mohd Fikri Rahim and Keifli Othman. Senna Sulaiman Noor came in 4th in qualifying but with a commanding lead in the championship, did not really need to push. Melvin took Heat 1 over two seconds ahead of Senna.  Heat 2 was slightly closer but with Melvin still crossing the line ahead of Senna. Sunday’s Pre-Final was a mirror of Heat 1 except that Melvin extended the lead over Senna to almost four seconds.  There was no stopping Melvin this weekend and he crossed the line first in the Final ahead of Senna, but Senna had done enough to take the overall championship for 2014.  In masters, Riki Tanioka finished second after Keifli Othman, but he too had done enough to take the Masters 2014 championship.  Ray Kong came in first in the Veteran category.

Arsh Johany took pole on the Saturday from Oscar Ng.  Heat 1 was very closely fought with the first five karts spread by less than a second.  Muhammad Afiq Haikal took first place from his brother Amirul. Sibling rivalry continued in Heat 2 but this time Amirul just got to the line before Afiq. In the Pre-Final there was a change at the top with first place taken by Muhammad bin Sidqi Ahmad Said. After his pole in qualifying, Arsh had struggled in the Heats and Pre-Final but he came back strongly to take the Final from Afiq and Oscar.

David Sitanala took pole in Qualifying just ahead of compatriots Barichello Noor and Presley Martono. Presley just pipped David to the line in Heat 1, but David took a commanding lead in Heat 2 to win by over two seconds to Gezha Sudirman and Presley. In Heat 2, there was a big accident on the main straight just as the race was green flagged. Karts were three and four abreast going down the straight and after two of them touched, it caused a concertina effect with karts crashing into the barriers. Fortunately there were no injuries but four karters were forced to retire from the Heat. On Sunday morning in the Pre-Final, David continued strongly but only just took the win from Nazim Azman and Kane Shepherd. David drove a strong race in the Final, opened up a gap early on and took the flag over two seconds ahead of Nazim and Riki Okusa.

Calvin Wong took pole and was a man on a mission for this round as he needed a good finish to assure him of a championship win. Lee Wai Cong qualified second. Calvin took Heat 1 and Heat 2 from Teruhisa Tanaka – the Pre-Final was no different. As in DD2 (Melvin) and Junior (David) Calvin continued his dominance in the Final, just winning from Worawong  Kinarakul Nanagara, ensuring his championship win for 2014.
